The American flag of 13 stripes and 50 stars represents the dominion of 50 states of the Independent United States of America. It was first introduced on 14 June 1777 by Continental Congress. When our country was at war with the English Crown for Independence our forefathers refused to hoist the English colors. The country wanted independence from the colonial rule of the English Crown and they had to fight together for the dear freedom we have been longing for so long.

To fight for the freedom our founding fathers came together with 13 colonies and their ruling governors. They decided to stop abiding by colonial rule. These 13 colonies which were Virginia, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia formed an alliance called Continental Congress and choose the stars and stripes with the star-spangled banner to be their official Flag.
